World Environment Day is a platform for action.
The UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment and it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach since it began in 1974. More than 100 countries take part and celebrate the event.
Above all, World Environment Day is the “people’s day” for doing something to take care of the Earth. That “something” can be focused locally, nationally or globally; it can be a solo act or involve a crowd.
Every World Environment Day has a different global host country, where the official celebrations take place. The focus on the host country helps to highlight the environmental challenges it faces and supports the effort to address them.
This year’s host is India, our Regional Sales Manager Vishnu Nair took part by planting 150 saplings including Sandlewood, Guava, Pomegranate, Rambutan, Wood Apple and Mango.
Vishnu received a very positive response from local people who all took part in the planting of the trees. The locations chosen were at the roadside, local schools, the police station and various government organisations.
In recent years, millions of people have taken part in thousands of registered activities worldwide.
The Silver Fox Team hope to take part in similar events in the UK, we only have one planet. Let’s work together to protect it.
Silver Fox has supported renewable energy since 2011when we fitted solar panels and are in the process of installing LED lighting to support our aim to be a low carbon workplace.
This year’s theme is beating plastic pollution, you can share your contribution by using the following: #BeatPlasticPollution.
